ServeConnect is a social website concept with the goal of changing communities in the United States for the better by empowering individuals to start or participate in service initiatives by giving time or financial support to various projects in their community.
Anyone with an idea to better their community will be able to post their concept on ServeConnect and request volunteer support or financial backing. On the flip side, if a family, church, organization or individual is interested in getting involved in their community they can log on and find projects they would like to support and pledge volunteer or financial support.
Volunteers and project coordinators can talk to one another, set dates where groups can meet to complete their project, answer questions and more.
ServeConnect Step by Step
Step 1: Visitors will sign up and recieve a login ID
Step 2: Visitors will search for projects in their community they want to get involved in
Step 3: Visitors can chose to pledge financial or volunteer support to a project that inspires them.
Step 4: Feeling motivated, start a project of your own!
Visitors will be updated regularly on various completed community projects and project coordinators will be held responsible for keeping in touch with their volunteers, informing them of cancellations and making plans on dates and times to meet up to complete a project.
This website can be used for initiatives like opening up a community garden, hosting a Christmas Party for children in a homeless shelter, cleaning up a local park and so much more!
ServeConnect is a for profit business income. A 5% fee on all donations made will be charged, and that money will go toward keeping the website up and running.
Risks and challengesThere are many social websites such as Facebook, Meetup, Instragram and more that ServeConnect will be competing against. However, ServeConnect is unique in that it has a local community focus and combines both volunteer support as well as financial backing to empower individuals to serve their community.
Also, this website will need to be heavily marketed so that enough individuals use the site in order for it to be, at a minimum, self sustainable and preferably profitable.I plan on using different outlets such as Facebook's ad services, reaching out to local churches, posting marketing videos on youtube and finding other methods of getting the word out.
Finally, there is always a risk that individuals will take funds and not complete their projects or have ill intentions when setting up events. I will be working with lawyers and other professionals to make sure that everyone who visits the site understands the risks involved and how to minimize those risks.
